Shelby Meged grew up in Alberta, Canada. Not only is she a great breakaway roper, but she also spends her time raising and training horses. She competes with her horse Root Beer, as well as her horse Onna who won the inaugural Nutrena Horse of the Year presented by AQHA in 2021.
